So, Omi has always sworn that she would NEVER EVER run. It’s so boring, she said. It’s not fun, she said. Well, she started running, and I, seeing a perfect opportunity for getting into something where someone else would keep me going, asked her to drag me along. Yesterday, I went running with her. I’ve [...]

They’re asking for people who can be available for 2 weeks. I think that is actually too short of a time for me. If I’m going to give up my funding, etc., I need to be gone for longer than that. I think. I’m debating.
In other news, I am not entirely joking when I say [...]

y’know. If I wait to do the DNA scarf until I practice some intarsia, I could do an actual gene sequence with 4 colors (to represent A,T,C,G) and some other solid color for the background.
Hrmm, I like to make my life complicated sometimes
The colors wouldn’t have to be rainbowy or anything; they could [...]

Ok, so I got my new laptop and the wireless modem keeps cutting out. It does it randomly and fairly often even if I’m doing normal websurfing, but if I try to send any large files over gmail, it immediately says it can’t find a network. It has yet to cut out during downloading.
The router [...]

I just got back from Chicago. It was good. Saw Constant Gardener and Winter Soldier, Went on a 1.5 hr boat ride to hear about Chicago architecture. Had great Mexican and Moroccan food and also frozen custard and a Polish sausage with Chicago’s trademark flourescent relish.
I also finished the hat I was having a [...]

Apparently, I’m going to Chicago this weekend. Bought my ticket tonight and am going tomorrow afternoon.
So, I have this pattern, it’s lacey and each rep of the lacey is 11 stitches. The pattern calls for cast on 90 stitches–so 2 stiches are left over when I do a round of the lacey. If I continue [...]

It’s not that I don’t really want to do relief work, or that I’m scared, or anything like that. It concerns me that I am considering the idea of doing relief work as a relief to me and an opportunity to escape my own life and all the messy tangles inside of it. And I [...]

I’ve been thinking that maybe the only reason I want to volunteer for Katrina relief is so that I can get the fuck away from my life. Well, that’s not the only reason, but I hate work and I’m dreading school (WHY, exactly, is it that I can’t just click my heels together three times [...]

Does anyone have a fax machine I can use for a 3-4 page fax OR know a really easy and free program I can download to fax over my cable modem?
I need to fax the rest of my paperwork to DHHS and it’ll be a huge hassle to try and sneak the long distance codes [...]

Red Cross won’t take me because of my asthma. Which makes sense but is a pain in the ass. Still waiting to hear back from the Department of Health and Human Services.
I guess I could apply to Project HOPE and help out on a navy ship, but the idea gives me the ookies.
Edited to add: [...]
