Cooker: Stove
Coriander: cilantro
Fussed: Bothered
Half-six: The way many Brits pronounce 6:30; unfortunately I’ve picked it up, too. Sorry.
Invigilate: To proctor, or monitor an exam.
Maize: Corn (not sweet)
Manky: Dirty, grimy, gross—the kind of thing you don’t want to have to touch.
Mince: Hamburger meat
Pants: Underwear
Petrol: gas
Playing funny buggers: not working/acting up. Ex.: “My internet is playing funny buggers again.”
Pudding: Dessert (not desert). Adrienne said me voluntarily using this word is proof I’ve been around too many Brits for too long.
Rocket: arugula
Trousers: pants.
Whilst: (pronounced with a long “i” sound, for those, like me, who didn’t realize that.) While
